For Our Future Innovation and Technology Scholarship

, from the Physiotherapy programme, and Kitty Yip Tik-yung, from the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence programme, each received the For Our Future Scholarship from the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation (the Foundation), with an award of HK$50,000 each. Additionally, PhD candidate Aubrey Tse Yuet-tung was honoured with the For Our Future Innovation and Technology Scholarship, a new initiative to support local PhD students studying STEM-related subjects, with an award of HK$80,000.

Edison aims to utilise his professional knowledge in physiotherapy and sports to become a community physiotherapist. His goal is to promote safe sports participation in the community and to provide injury-prevention support for amateur sports teams.

Turning her experience of illness into a force to help others, Kitty is dedicated to exploring the application of AI technology in medical diagnosis. She strives to develop meaningful solutions that empower users, particularly patients with chronic illness, to manage their health effectively, thereby enhancing accessibility and improving their quality of life.

Aubrey's research focuses on environmental protection applications, microplastic risk-assessment monitoring and microalgae applications. He has had 15 research papers published to date. Since 2019, he has also been actively involved in promoting youth development, including providing adventure training to help young people overcome adversity and build resilience.

The For Our Future Scholarship is awarded annually to recognise local university students with diverse talents who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and a strong commitment to community service. This year, to promote the development of innovation and technology in Hong Kong and nurture talent in this field, the Foundation introduced the For Our Future Innovation and Technology Scholarship to support research students and encourage greater engagement among local youth in the areas of innovation and technology.
