HKMU's mental health first aid course raises confidence in over 90% of students in identifying mental health risk factors and supporting their peers

The first round of a 12-hour mental health first aid (MHFA) course at Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) showed encouraging results. The course evaluation survey indciates that over 90% of students reported increased confidence in identifying mental health risk factors and supporting others with mental health challenges. To implement “train the trainer” approach, the first batch of faculty members and staff have completed their training and become course instructors, further enhancing the University's capacity to identify and address students' mental health needs....

Film scripted by HKMU alumna showcased at prestigious film festivals

Alumna Tse Shuk-fun adapted a novel she wrote into a film, serving as both producer and screenwriter. The film, True Love, for Once in My Life, was shortlisted in the Hidden Dragon section of the 8th Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival. It was also selected as one of the films in the “Made in HK” section of the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival 2024 and as the opening film at the Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation in Dubai....

Three HKMU students receive "For Our Future" Scholarships

Edison So Kwun-wang from the Physiotherapy programme and Kitty Yip Tik-yung from the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence programme each received the For Our Future Scholarship from the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation (the Foundation), with an award of HK$50,000. Additionally, PhD student Aubrey Tse Yuet-tung was honoured with the For Our Future Innovation and Technology Scholarship, a newly established initiative aimed at supporting local PhD students studying STEM-related subjects, with an award of HK$80,000....

HKMU outstanding prospective teachers recognised with accolades

Twelve students from the School of Education and Languages (E&L) and one student from the Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education (LiPACE) were honoured for their exceptional teaching skills and passion for education at the 12th Hong Kong Outstanding Prospective Teachers Award. Among them, So Yuk-yu and Chang Sin received the prestigious Gold Award, and Long Wanting, Lo Man-ling, Wong Yuet-sze and Xie Peishan earned the Silver Award.
