Huang Chang, from the master's programme in Chinese Literature, received the 14th Fudan Guanghua Poetry Prize, organised by the Fudan Poetry Society.
The Fudan Poetry Society is a student society at Fudan University with a long history, which has produced numerous poets in contemporary China. Since its establishment in 1981, it has made Fudan University one of the major cradles of modern Chinese poetry. The Fudan Poetry Society has held the Fudan Guanghua Poetry Prize (復旦「光華詩歌獎」) every year since 2011. The prize is open to modern Chinese poets from around the world and awards ten outstanding poets each year. It aims to showcase the achievements of contemporary young poets and encourage them to make unremitting efforts to develop the art of poetry.
Huang Chang's first short story collection, Late Lake, was recently selected for the August 2024 shortlist of “Searchlight Good Books” Outstanding Chinese and Foreign Literature. He was also a winner of the Zhenjin Young Literary Talent Selection Contest (真金·青年文學寫作選拔) and received the Chongchang Poetry Prize (重唱詩歌獎) from Nanjing University and the Weeds Literary Prize (野草文學獎).
