Four students from the Creative Advertising and Media Design programme, Cheung Ho-yik, Lau Chung-yee, Li Tsun-lok and Luo Meizhen, teamed up to participate in the HK2A ESG Marketing Excellence Award 2024 and won a Gold Award in the Student Division with their advertising campaign. They were also awarded a sponsored overseas trip to further their knowledge of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
Supervised by Ms Terry Ng, Senior Lecturer, the students designed an integrated advertising campaign to promote HK Timberbank, a local ESG start-up dedicated to recycling fallen trees into furniture and household products. Riding on the theme “Hong Kong timber is given a new life”, the campaign promoted the brand through video advertising, outdoor posters and an exhibition. After the first round of judging, the team was shortlisted to give a presentation in front of a judging panel that included the Chairman of The Hong Kong Advertisers Association, senior executives from the advertising industry and ESG corporations, and a scholar from a local university. They stood out among contestants from other local universities, earning a Gold Award.
Organised by the Hong Kong Advertisers Association, the HK2A ESG Marketing Excellence Award is a public competition aimed at inspiring young people to develop marketing plans that advance ESG initiatives.
