MGT B160 is a fundamental course providing broad general knowledge of the business field as well as developing learners' managerial skills. It provides an overview of management's key business challenges and a basic understanding of each core business area.
Aims
This course aims to introduce learners to the general business concepts in management, marketing, operations, accounting and finance that are needed in managing a business organisation effectively.
Contents
The course covers the following topics:
- The business environment and trends in business
- Principles of marketing
- Managing accounting information and financial issues
- The business of managing
- People in organisations
Learning support
There will be four three-hour tutorials.
Assessment
There are two assignments and one examination. Students must use word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) to prepare the assignments, and submit the assignments via the Online Learning Environment (OLE).
